Couples Communication: Are We REALLY Listening?”

In my couples’ counseling sessions, I regularly hear people say how well they “know” their partner. However, it’s worth asking how well we are really listening to one another. How well do we REALLY know our partner’s desires, deepest secrets, insecurities, intrapersonal challenges, history, physical and psychological needs, interests, dreams, and goals? So much goes into understanding another person. Perhaps we have only skimmed the surface of the person who could be considered our “other half?” In my tailored couples sessions, I emphasize enhancing our emotional sensitivity, and emotional intelligence, really attuning to another’s gaze, and recognizing the non-verbal forms of communication that if correctly read, and anticipated BEFORE one’s desires are made explicit can deepen the connectivity we have with the other in a profound way. Even if you feel you are in a stable and healthy relationship, the work of interpersonal growth and understanding is a limitless and potentially life-long process. So come and take the first step towards deepening your relationship and book a consult with me for next level couples’ counseling
